However, compared to the average Netflix show, Midnight Mass doesn't use too many songs, but the ones that it does have, play prominently and often speak volumes about what's happening in those scenes. Flanagan had been wanting to develop Midnight Mass into something - a movie, TV show, or book - for several years, even going as far as to add the story in as an Easter egg in two of his past movies. Now he's back with a third show that is perhaps his most personal one yet - Midnight Mass. Midnight Mass comes from horror mastermind Mike Flanagan, who previously worked with Netflix on a handful of movies as well as two incredibly popular TV shows, The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor. Much of those changes become obvious as time goes on, but one of the things that helps support the themes around the show is the fact that the music is altered as well. Quite a bit changes as Midnight Mass' story develops, from character traits to the overall direction of the series. I usually do that because I feel like the midis are rather quick and the notes run into eachother when the speed is at 100%, but if you do it slow enough it can give the illusion it’s really you playing. The Midnight Mass soundtrack contains some famous rock songs that play throughout the early episodes, but those are then replaced by hymns. I never state that it’s really me playing so of course it’s obvious it’s a macro player, who cares tbh I wouldn’t sweat it.Įdit: If it being noticeable is an issue for you, you can slow it down so it plays the song much slower.

I might not be really playing it but I have learned quite a bit about music and how to transcribe songs into midis since I started to try and create my own midi files. But if people do look down on it just ignore them, it’s a silly thing to be mad about. It’s just nice chill music to play while I wait for queue to pop, since it takes a while and sometimes I don’t feel like wandering around aimlessly while I wait. When people ask my how I’m so good I just said something silly like “I’m a fraud” or something along the lines, but I never say I’m actually playing.

People have tried to give me gil but I don’t accept because it’s not really me. Using BMP is achieving the end result for that result in mind - playing the music, and I see nothing wrong with that. The achievement of any of those things is still an achievement. But then I realized that it would be stupid for me to be angry at her in the slightest, and that whether or not the music can be played externally has no bearing on the process of me having tried to transcribe, write, layout, and learn the music myself.

That being said, as someone who tried to learn how to play Gwyn's Theme and Gourmet Race with the controller, it was hard not to feel like my hard work was diminished when my fiance picked up BMP and was able to play both with under ten minutes of searching for MIDIs. It's frowned upon by elitists, and some who actually took the time to learn how to play music who get the spotlight stolen from them by BMP users but that's only when BMP users do it for the attention rather than, y'know, playing music that they properly like, for the enjoyment of transcribing it and hearing how cool it'd sound played in FFXIV!
